Meet Chuck Frusterio.

Chuck founded Frusterio Design in 1982 with a single belief: a home plan should begin with a conversation, not a catalog. More than forty years later, that belief still shapes every drawing that leaves our studio.

Under Chuck's leadership as President, our team has designed thousands of homes across the U.S. and Canada — Modern Farmhouses, Tudors, Transitionals, English Cottages, and bespoke one-of-a-kind residences. Each one starts the same way: listening.

Do you design fully custom homes, or only semi-custom plans?+
Both. We work with clients who want a bespoke, fully custom home designed from a blank sheet — and with clients who prefer to start from one of our existing concepts and adapt it to their land and lifestyle. Your discovery call is where we figure out which path fits you best.
How much does a custom home plan cost?+
Pricing depends entirely on scope — square footage, style, level of customization, and whether you're starting from scratch or adapting an existing design. We provide a clear, written proposal after your discovery call so you know exactly what you're investing in before any design work begins.
Do you work with clients outside the South or U.S.?+
Yes. While we're based in Alabama, we've designed thousands of homes across the United States and Canada. Our process works remotely — and we've built a design workflow that lets us collaborate closely with clients no matter where their land is.
How long does the design process take?+
Timelines vary with scope, but most custom residential projects move through discovery, concept, design iterations, and final builder-ready drawings over several weeks to a few months. We'll give you an honest timeline during your consultation based on your specific project.
Can my builder build from your plans anywhere in the country?+
Yes. Our plans are prepared to be builder-ready and have been used for homes constructed across the U.S. and Canada. We can also coordinate with your builder during the design process to make sure the plan aligns with local requirements and construction practices.
I've already bought a stock plan — can you customize it?+
We specialize in plans we've originated ourselves, because that's where we can guarantee the quality of the design. The best first step is a quick discovery call — we'll talk through your situation honestly and point you in the right direction, whether that's with us or not.
